The first door goes up. Why the slice down the
middle? The linear portion of the backdrop is 84", but doors
are only 80". This was another idea of Paul's.
During the weekend, I purchased 3 doors to
use as the core of my backdrop. Additionally a purchased a piece of
1/2" plywood and had it ripped to the width of the Bigelow
scene. The Bigelow scene ends at a backdrop to isolate it from the
rest of the layout. It took quite some time to figure out how to
splice, lengthen, and split the doors for the 3 locations they are to be
used on the layout. Don and Tom sawed 2x4's down to make the splice
boards. Finally the group got one door section in place. The
night was a success!

The other side of the backdrop, the Bigelow side.
Bigelow will end at the plywood. Actually, styrene backdrop will be
curved around the end, to form a nice continuous blue sky. The
Sawmill at Bigelow will be painted onto the backdrop as it curves around
behind the Bigelow yard.
