SR&RL #8 and Passenger car Rangeley on David
Keith's Dickey Bridge section. This section was on display at
the 2005 Midwest Narrow Gauge Meet in Greenford, OH. Besides this
display, Dave brought Sn2
Free-Mo module for the first
ever Sn2 Free-Mo setup. More images from the meet to be posted
soon. In the background is the HOn30 Great Lakes modular
setup. The locomotive and passenger are both by Train and
Trooper. (Jim Amato photo)

Train
and Trooper has shipped the second release of Sn2 Brass
locomotives. These include SR #5, SR&RL #6 (early and late), SR #7 and KC #4.
Contact T&T if your interested.
Jerry
Wilson is expanding his line of Sn2 equipment. He now
has Gilpin excursion cars, cabooses, ore cars, and loco cabs in
the works. Contact him for more information. This is
in addition to his Maine 2-Foot loco cabs and horse drawn
wagons. I think he is also planning to release Gilpin items
for On30/On2.
What is Sn2?
Sn2 is modeling two foot gauge trains in
S-Scale (1/64). Many modelers in the United States use HOn3 gauge
(10.5mm) which results in 26.5" gauge, while modelers in the UK, use
N gauge (9.0mm) which results in 22.6" gauge. Actually, the
choice of gauge is not based so much on country, but on prototype.
For a better understanding see the standards
page.
Sn2 Today!
I do not know when Sn2 got started, but in the early 80's
a few articles about Sn2 models appeared
in the NG&SLG, Model Railroading, and Maine 2-Foot Modeler. Robert Sloan
was producing brass
etchings for locomotives, and Sandy River Car shops was producing freight car
kits. Even with the support of manufacturers, Sn2 was primarily for
dabblers through the 80's and early 90's.
Today, several modelers from Japan the US, and
Europe are starting to incorporate Sn2 into their layouts, or even make Sn2
the feature of their layouts. Additionally manufacturers such as Portland Locomotive Works,
Train and Trooper, and Kingfield Car Shops are producing kits specifically
for the Sn2 market.
Conversions
- One benefit of Sn2 is the ability to use models from HO and
O. On this page you will see how several modelers have converted
models from other scales for use in Sn2.
Free-mo
- Sn2 modelers are adopting the Free-Mo modular standards
Layouts - Several
model railroads are incorporating Sn2 in to their layouts, or building
Sn2 only layouts. The modelers have been nice enough to share
their work for all who are interested in Sn2.
Manufacturers
- Sn2 is not a primary scale. Actually, it is a minor gauge
in a minor scale. None the less, several manufactures have
producing items specifically for use by Sn2 modelers.

Standards
- Sn2 adopts many standards from HOn3, but not all. Review
the recommended standards.
